The leaker who revealed a lot of information on Assassin’s Creed Mirage accidentally displays who they are in an account switching mishap.

The leaker who first revealed the title for Assassin’s Creed Mirage has recently unveiled their identity after replying to a tweet on the wrong account. Leaks have been incredibly prevalent in gaming news as of late, with a huge amount of information dropping regarding Grand Theft Auto 6 following a hacker gaining access to an early build from Rockstar. Apart from GTA’s recent titanic leak, plenty of other games have had information revealed about them before the developers or publishers are ready to show off anything.

Assassin’s Creed has also suffered from some news being leaked recently. The title for the next game in the iconic franchise, Assassin’s Creed Mirage was unveiled just before Ubisoft had a chance to confirm it, alongside some promotional images for the game. As well, a lot of information about the Ubisoft Forward presentation focused on Assassin’s Creed was unveiled by the same leaker, formerly an anonymous person on the internet known as The Real Insider on Twitter.

It turns out, however, that this person was not really an industry insider, but a YouTuber known as Dan Allen Gaming. Just shy of 200,000 subscribers, Allen has quite an audience on the platform, and been given a brief by Ubisoft on what was going to be revealed at the Ubisoft Forward presentation in September of this year. Allen had been informed of the contents of the showcase under embargo, which he seems to have ignored in order to unveil the information on the future of Assassin’s Creed early.

Allen revealed himself to be The Real Insider when responding to a tweet aimed at the latter with his main account. This then led to some on the internet searching through Allen and The Real Insider’s Twitter, leading to the discovery that they would both tweet about similar games at the same time. For example, both Dan Allen’s Twitter and The Real Insider critiqued the launch of the Saints Row reboot. Finally, this resulted in Allen posting an apology to Twitter, which has since been deleted, where he claimed to be taking some time to reflect on his “poor decisions.” The post below is the screenshot Allen put up on his account.

Currently, there hasn’t been a response from Ubisoft, but it is possible that there could be some serious ramifications for Allen following the discovery that he leaked information on Assassin’s Creed Mirage and some of the content shown at Ubisoft Forward. It seems that Ubisoft hasn’t been too deterred by these leaks, as it has still managed to give fans some surprising and interesting information about the future of Assassin’s Creed, including how Assassin’s Creed Infinity will function.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage is currently in development for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
